If the clients are capable of compromise, this can be a good process. Mediation can be cost-effective if it doesn’t require too many meetings. Like Collaborative Divorce, it allows couples to make their own decisions.
Some individuals going through a divorce may need or could benefit from additional support or expertise—whether from a lawyer-advocate and/or a neutral specialist.
An alternative method called team mediation or co-mediation adds a professional—usually a facilitator, financial specialist or child specialist—as in Collaborative Divorce. A lawyer can also serve as a neutral legal specialist.
